Adjusted for inflation, the PlayStation 5 Pro became Sony's second most expensive console

Inflation-adjusted PlayStation 5 Pro became Sony's second most expensive console

On September 10, 2024, Sony officially introduced the updated PlayStation 5 Pro console, which immediately sparked active discussions on the network due to its price — $700. But is the new console really that much more expensive than previous generations?

Mezha.Media editor Oleg Danilov noted that if you take into account inflation and convert the cost of each of Sony's consoles to modern prices, then the PlayStation 5 Pro will not be the most expensive and has quite the usual price.

200% Deposit Bonus up to €3,000 180% First Deposit Bonus up to $20,000

Taking into account inflation, the prices of all consoles as of August 2024 look like this:

  • PlayStation – $625
  • PlayStation 2 – $560
  • PlayStation 3 – $950
  • PlayStation 4 – $545
  • PlayStation 4 Pro – $530
  • PlayStation 5 – $610
  • PlayStation 5 Pro – $699

As you can see, although the PlayStation 5 Pro is more expensive than most previous consoles, it is inferior to the PlayStation 3. However, the PS3 had support for PS1 and PS2 disc games and was a popular disc playback device.< /p>
