The famous actress of Ukrainian origin, Ivanna Sakhno, who played roles in numerous Hollywood films, recorded an inspiring address to the Ukrainian Olympians.
The actress published the video on her page in Instagram.
In her address, Sakhno emphasized the importance of not only sports achievements, but also the fact that Ukrainian Olympians represent their country in such a difficult time. She noted that their participation in the Olympics is a demonstration of the indomitability of the Ukrainian spirit and the struggle for freedom.
Today, Ukraine proudly stands at the Olympic Games as a symbol of resilience in the midst of destruction and loss. Remembering the dark times of the Second World War, when the Olympic Games were suspended, you, our athletes, stand here to show the world that history has no right to repeat itself, the actress noted.
Sakhno expressed her admiration for strength Ukrainian athletes who, despite dark times for the country, continue their journey.
The past teaches us, and in this difficult time for Ukraine, we use its lessons. Each of you is a living testimony that the spirit of Ukrainians is indomitable. The Olympic flame burning today is not just a symbol. It is the flame of freedom that you carry through the darkness. So let these games become not only a celebration of sports, but also a celebration of human dignity and unity against tyranny and aggression. May the strength come with you. Glory to Ukraine!, – added Ivanna.
The actress recorded the address in Ukrainian, adding English subtitles to the video. Sakhno's English-speaking fans expressed their support for Ukraine in the comments, and Ukrainians, in turn, thanked the actress for their support.
