Matthew Perry
Several people have been blamed for the overdose death of popular actor Matthew Perry. At least one person has been arrested, and several people have been notified of the suspicion.
Federal prosecutors will soon release an indictment detailing the details. This was reported by the NBC News channel on August 15.
54-year-old actor Matthew Perry died on October 28, 2023, at his home in Los Angeles. He struggled with addiction for a long time. The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner's Office attributed his death to acute effects of ketamine, an anesthetic with psychedelic properties.
With the high level of ketamine found in his post-mortem blood samples, the main causes of death could have been either excessive stimulation of the cardiovascular system or respiratory depression, the autopsy report said.
At the time, Perry's death was ruled an accident. , without signs of violence. In January 2024, the police decided not to investigate the actor's untimely death. But in May, it became known that law enforcement began working with federal authorities to find out the source of the ketamine that Perry used and why he had so much of the drug in his system.
The actor was undergoing ketamine infusion therapy to treat depression and anxiety, but the last session took place more than a week before his death. The medical examiner immediately noted that the ketamine in Perry's system “could not have come from that infusion,” given its short half-life.
Prior to his death, Perry spoke extensively about his struggle with addiction. In particular, that he does not remember three years of his time in “Friends” and that he spent more than 9 million dollars to fight the disease.
