a16z Leads $23M Funding Round for Cryptoys NFT Platform

Cryptoys NFT gaming platform raises $23M Series A funding round led by venture capital firm Andreessen Horowitz (a16z).

Dapper Labs, Draper & Associates, CoinFund, Animoca Brands, Sound Ventures and other investors.

Cryptoys uses the raised funds to create a game universe based on NFT and release an animated series. The team plans to unveil three characters from the series shortly.

According to a press release, the startup raised $7.5 million led by a16z in October 2021. CoinFund is also an early investor.

At the end of May a16z has raised $4.5 billion in a new fund focused on games, non-fungible tokens and other cryptocurrency startups.

The venture capital firm previously launched a $600 million fund focused on “game infrastructure and metaverse technologies.”

As a reminder, on June 21, Uniswap Labs announced the purchase of Genie, a non-fungible token marketplace aggregator.

Magic Eden, a Solana-based non-fungible token marketplace, raised $130 million from Electric Capital and Greylock Partners, and eBay absorbed NFT- KnownOrigin platform.
