A Ukrainian specialist was sentenced to 10 years in prison for drawing and calculating Russian nuclear power plants

The Zolochiv District Court of Lviv Oblast found the citizen guilty of aiding the aggressor state.

According to the case file, the director of Kharkiv LLC “Yuzhatomenergoproekt” before the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation into Ukraine, he established stable and systematic financial and economic relations with Russian enterprises. It was, in particular, about cooperation with “Alfapro” LLC. on the production of design and technical documentation for maintaining the current technical condition, as well as modernization and reconstruction of operating nuclear power plants on the territory of the Russian Federation. Nine current and former employees of Yuzhatomenergoproekt LLC were involved in such activities, including the accused

No later than the end of April 2022, the accused was instructed to prepare design and technical documentation, which included descriptions and drawings for branches JSC “Concern Rosenergoatom” Balakovo NPP, Kola NPP and Kaliningrad NPP.

The accused graduated from Kharkiv Polytechnic University with a specialty — boilers and reactors. While at his place of residence, he completed the work on a laptop and sent it to the director's email. The latter, in turn, sent the results to representatives of the Russian OOO «Alfapro» for  further transfer to the branches of the nuclear power plants of JSC «Concern Rosenergoatom».

For the work performed, the accused received 80 thousand hryvnias from the director to his bank account.

By such actions, the employees of «Yuzhatomenergoproekt» leveled Ukraine's sanctions policy against the aggressor country, supporting the Russian nuclear energy industry,  which contributes to the uninterrupted functioning and electricity supply of its military-industrial complex.

At the court hearing, the man pleaded guilty in full and did not deny anything. He was sentenced to 10 years in prison with confiscation of property and a 10-year ban on engaging in activities related to the development of design and technical documentation in the energy sector.

The activities of the accused's employees are being investigated in other criminal proceedings.
