A Ukrainian horror film with elements of erotica won at the Tokyo Horror Film Festival

The film “Morena” directed by Sergei Aloshechkin became the best film at the Tokyo Horror Film Festival in Japan. The film will be widely released in Ukraine in the fall of 2024.

The tape won in the “Best Feature Film” category. Derzhkino tells about this on August 9.

According to the plot, a couple in love, Yura and Anya, come to live with the girl's parents in a small village in the Carpathians. The young witch Ivanka, nicknamed Morena by her fellow villagers, falls in love with Yurk on the night against Ivan Kupala and puts him in danger.

With the help of magic, the witch forces Anna to kill her beloved pov to tie oneself with Ivanka in mystical bonds. This becomes the beginning of a series of mysterious murders and transformations that the young lovers will have to face.

The main role in the film was played by Taisia-Oksana Shchuruk, best known for her roles in the TV series “The First Swallows” and “Kyiv day and night”. The cast was completed by Vitaliy Azhnov (“And there will be people”), Oleksandr Melnyk (“Cyborgs”), Vasyl Basha (“Guide”) and others.

Filming was completed in 2018, but the film was widely distributed will be released in the fall of 2024.
