Recently, scientists have been puzzled by the state of Earth's satellite, the Moon. As it turned out, a strange crack was found on the surface of this cosmic body, which continues to expand.

The problem also lies in the fact that just a few years ago the scientific community agreed that there should not be any new faults on the natural satellite of the Earth. However, experts from the Smithsonian Institution in the United States conducted a large-scale study of the fault found on the lunar surface using sensors installed during the Apollo 17 mission. The data they obtained indicate that a mysterious crack formed on the satellite as a result of a powerful shock in depth, the magnitude of which could reach 5.5 on the Richter scale. As a rule, such tremors on Earth are enough to cause significant damage to buildings.
The information received by scientists means that the future colonizers of the Moon will have to seriously attend to the issues of seismic activity on its surface. In addition, it is possible that in this case it will be necessary to build a settlement directly inside the satellite.
