A significant flaw was discovered in the iPhone 16 smartphone: what is wrong with it

The Apple company says that it is constantly working on improving the strength and durability of its smartphones. However, even true iPhone fans claim that it is still far from ideal in this regard.

So enthusiasts around the world decided to test the second-generation Ceramic Shield protective material, which was used in the iPhone 16 line. Of course, the authors of the YouTube channel  Allstate Protection Plans, which conducts similar tests on behalf of a company that provides technical services for electronics and an insurance company.

The iPhone 16 Pro Max with a diagonal of 6.9 inches came to the attention of the channel authors – Apple's largest smartphone today. Its front and back are traditionally made of glass. However, this glass has a special Ceramic Shield composition, i.e. “ceramic shield”. According to the manufacturer, the material with a ceramic component is four times stronger than conventional tempered glass and twice as strong as the best smartphone materials currently on the market.

To test the strength of the Ceramic Shield, Allstate Protection Plans dropped the new iPhone 16 Pro Max from a height of 1.8 meters onto a concrete surface. The gadget will survive approximately the same fall if it is dropped from the hands of a tall man who was looking at the screen.

First, the iPhone 16 Pro Max was dropped with the screen facing down. And he did not survive the collision with the pavement. The display cracked into small pieces and stopped working. It became impossible to use a smartphone after such a fall.

After that, the gadget was dropped with the back cover. The glass panel again failed to withstand the impact, and the impact also visibly damaged the body of his camera. However, this time the iPhone remained in full working order.

Thus, experts confirmed – iPhone 16 still cannot boast of high impact resistance. And it should be purchased with a protective case and AppleCare+ insurance where this option is available.
