The SBU counterintelligence exposed and detained a 67-year-old pensioner who worked for the Russian military intelligence (GRU). According to the investigation, the woman collected information about the defensive positions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and passed it on to the enemy.
This was reported by the SBU press service.
It is known that the woman lived in Lyman. It is noted that in addition to collecting and transmitting data on the positions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine to Russian intelligence, she was waiting for the occupation of the city by Russian troops.
It is also reported that the GRU agent toured the frontline areas, recording the location of fortifications and firing positions of Ukrainian defenders. In addition, she transmitted data on the consequences of Russian shelling, helping the aggressor in planning an offensive on the Donetsk region.
SBU employees noted that the Russian special services recruited the woman through her acquaintances in the Russian Federation. To transmit data, she used a militant of the occupation groups as a liaison.
During the search, a mobile phone with evidence of cooperation with the enemy was seized from the detainee.
SBU investigators suspected her of high treason under martial law (under Article 111, Part 2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). It is known that the woman may face life imprisonment with confiscation of property.
