A real armored giant: ScanJack 3500 searches for mines in Ukrainian land

Sweden provided Ukraine with ScanJack 3500 as part of military assistance for demining war zones. It was equipped with the 47th engineering brigade, which is already using this machine for demining “in the field”. In order to master the machine, Ukrainian sappers underwent appropriate training in Sweden.

In the brigade, the machine is called a “real armored giant”. They say the ScanJack 3500 can “effectively defuse both anti-tank and anti-personnel mines”, “operate even in the most challenging environments, ensuring high productivity and safety for sappers”.

Features of the ScanJack 3500 (also known as Djupminr&ouml ;jningsmaskin 1 in Sweden):

  • Able to defuse mines laid at a depth of up to 40 centimeters with hooks.
  • Length approximately 14 meters
  • Weight about 40 tons.
  • Operates at a clearing speed of 0.2 to 1.5 km/h.
  • ScanJack 3500 is operated using a joystick from the cab, which improves the control and safety of the miner.
