R32 Nissan Skyline GT-R is one of the most iconic sports cars of all times and nations. In the US, it has an aftermarket value of at least $75,000, making it one of the most sought after.

Unfortunately, this makes it a prime target for criminals. Nissan found this out recently when an R32 was stolen from the automaker's historic collection in Australia, writes Motor1.

A Nissan Australia representative confirmed to News.com.au that the rare sports car was stolen from the company's headquarters in Melbourne.

Unfortunately, our original R32 GT-R was stolen and is currently the subject of a police investigation,
a company representative said.

The vehicle in question is a dark red 1991 Skyline GT-R with registration number GTR 091 and registered in Victoria, Australia. It is fully equipped and was one of the first cars sold in the region. Nissan acquired it in 2015 and used it regularly for promotional events. It costs about US$170,000 (or AU$250,000).

At the moment, few details are known about the theft, and there are no ideas as to who may be responsible, but Nissan Australia is working closely with Victoria Police to track down the car and the criminals. They are asking anyone living in the area to get in touch if they have any information.

Between 1989 and 1994 only 100 new R32s were delivered to Australia, so the Skyline The GT-R is one of the rarest cars in the entire country. And this car has a rich history in Australia. During the 1990s he competed in the Australian Touring Car Championship (ATCC) and the Gibson Motorsport team won the ATCC and Bathurst 1000 championships with their R32 racing cars in 1991 and 1992.
