On the anniversary of the death of Queen Elizabeth II, Buckingham Palace honored her memory with a rare photo. .

The shot was taken in In 1968, photographer Cecil Beaton at the moment when the Queen posed for a court portraitist. On it, Elizaveta  in a mantle with the Order of the Garter — the highest knightly order of Great Britain. She had a tiara on her head.

The current King of Great Britain, Charles III, also paid tribute to his mother by recording an audio message.

“Marking the first anniversary of Her Majesty's death and my entry into throne, we remember with great love her long life, devoted service and all that she meant to so many of us. I am also deeply grateful for the love and support that has been shown to my wife and me this year as we do our best to be of service to you all.”, – said the king.
