Beam has put into operation the world's first autonomous underwater vehicle controlled by artificial intelligence (AI), which has become a breakthrough in the field of offshore wind energy inspections. The Electrek portal writes about it.

The article says that the new device “changes the rules of the game”, reducing the time of underwater inspections of wind power plants by up to 50%. The system is completely autonomous, so it can perform inspections without any human intervention and send data directly to shore.

Beam Autonomous Vehicle

Beam technology is expected to reduce the number of people going to sea, as well as the cost of inspections for companies. In addition, the advanced artificial intelligence system can collect higher quality data, including 3D models, so teams can make more informed decisions about asset maintenance.

The new Beam has already provided important data from the world's deepest of the Seagreen fixed-bottom wind farm, the depth of which is 58.6 meters. In particular, the system collected information about the growth and erosion of the marine environment, which will help ensure the long-term and reliable operation of the power plant.

“We are very excited to bring to market the world's first underwater vehicle with artificial intelligence. This technology will change the way we service and inspect offshore wind farms, reducing both costs and time,” — said Beam CEO Brian Allen.
