A new system for recording the entry and exit of all foreigners to Schengen countries will be launched on November 10

A new IT system, EES (Entry-Exit System), will be launched on the territory of the European Union on November 10: the procedure for entry into EU countries for Ukrainians will change.

This was reported by the Cabinet of Ministers, reports "European Pravda".

As is known, the new system will automatically record the entry and exit of all foreigners to the Schengen area.

This system is being introduced to simplify border crossing, enhance security with biometric documents and prevent the use of counterfeit documents. It should also help combat illegal migration.

This system will record fingerprints and facial photos of people crossing the border once and store them for three years: stamps in passports will no longer be needed.

Registration will occur automatically through self-service terminals.

Therefore, when a person travels abroad, border guards will first of all take biometric data, and if the person refuses to provide them, they will be denied entry.

Then, at each subsequent border crossing, you will need to scan your passport at a self-service terminal.

200% Deposit Bonus up to €3,000 180% First Deposit Bonus up to $20,000

The government also noted that the new border crossing rules do not mean the cancellation of the visa-free regime.

Let us recall that the press secretary of the European Commission recently reported that by the spring of 2025, the EU plans to introduce the EES and ETIAS (European Travel Information and Authorisation System), which will oblige travellers from visa-free countries to pay a fee of 7 euros every three years to authorise their trips.

As is known, back in 2016, the European Union made a fundamental decision to change the procedure for passing through the border of citizens of those countries that have the right to visa-free entry to the EU. In 2018, the European Parliament approved legislation establishing the parameters of the new system, which was called ETIAS.

The launch dates for the system were postponed several times, including due to the need for additional funding and technical legislation, which was ultimately adopted only in 2021. At that time, Brussels expected that the ETIAS system could be launched from the beginning of 2022, but the dates had to be postponed again, again and again.

The new scheme envisages that after the launch and after the transition period, entry of Ukrainians into the EU with a biometric passport will be possible in the case of preliminary registration (authorization) in the new system.
