A local resident was sentenced in Kovel for distributing information about the location of servicemen of the Territorial Recruitment Center and mobilization measures on the Viber messenger.
Recently, the Kovel City District Court sentenced him.
As it became known, the man, being a member of a thematic group on the Viber messenger, published detailed messages about the movements of representatives of the Territorial Recruitment and Social Support Centers (TCC and SP) in the settlement of Lyublynets. He also reported on the time and places of mobilization events, providing accurate data on the locations and vehicles of the military. According to the investigation, he carried out such activities from August to September 2024.
As stated in the court decision, his actions could have prevented the fulfillment of the tasks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and undermined the country's defense capability under martial law. The information he disseminated was available to over 13,000 members of the group, which could have contributed to individual citizens avoiding mobilization.
At the trial, the accused pleaded guilty and entered into a plea agreement with a representative of the prosecutor's office.
The court found the accused guilty under Part 1 of Article 114-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. This is about obstructing the lawful activities of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and other military formations under martial law.
He was sentenced to 5 years in prison, replaced by a year of probation.
