A man dropped $135,000 on an OnlyFans model while his wife was being treated for cancer

The husband spent crazy money on the model OnlyFans/Drazen Zigic

After seven years of marriage, the life of 46-year-old Melinda Lam turned into a nightmare. She found out that her husband had become obsessed with the OnlyFans platform, spending not only all the family savings, but also tens of thousands of dollars from credit cards.

A pharmacist from Colorado found herself on the brink of financial and emotional collapse as she battled a difficult diagnosis of breast cancer, undergoing chemotherapy and radiation therapy, Reuters. It was one of the worst periods of her life, and instead of support from her husband, she received betrayal and indifference.

Her husband spent more than $135 thousand on an online platformOnlyFans, where it turned out he had an intense relationship with one of the models named Laura Shine from Bogotá, Colombia. Laura, who described herself as “the weirdest girl on OnlyFans”, promised Melinda's husband “a future together” and constantly asked him for money – not only for herself, but also for her “baby”.

One day Lam's husband even sent Laurie $2,000 via Western Union. Their plans included a vacation at a resort in the Dominican Republic, which Melinda found out later when she began her own investigation by finding emails and financial transactions on her home computer.

When Melinda first learned about these expenses in January 2022, she decided not to go to the conflict right away – the illness had exhausted her strength, and she was in no mood for confrontations. However, the situation quickly began to deteriorate. In February of the same year, the man raised his hand against her for the first time, hitting her head on the car window and punching her several times. It was just the beginning.

In March, he became aggressive with their five-year-old son, throwing him to the ground in such a way that the child almost suffered serious injuries. Melinda was forced to call the police, telling them that her marriage was falling apart and she feared that her husband was becoming more and more dangerous.

The police made a report stating that at that time, the man had already spent $65,000 on OnlyFans, driving the family into huge debt and causing significant emotional damage. Melinda couldn't take it anymore. She took her son and moved, hoping it would give her some peace. But the horrors did not end there.

A month later, when the man's total spending on OnlyFans reached $80,000, he attacked her again – this time, when she came to pick up the child. In a fit of rage, he chased her into the bathroom, smashed her head against the mirror and tried to strangle her. When he finally let Melinda go, he threatened to “finish her later.” In desperation, Melinda called the police again and was hospitalized. Shards of the broken mirror left marks on her body, and as she changed into a hospital gown, they fell out of her bra. However, even after this incident, exhausted by illness and moral trials, the woman withdrew the charges against her husband. She explained her decision by saying that the side effects of her cancer treatment prevented her from having the strength to go through the legal process.

According to Rob Weiss, a sex addiction specialist in California and author of Sex Addiction 101 , this case clearly demonstrates how an OnlyFans subscriber can lose control over their own finances and life. Chatting with models online is often a way for such people to fill an emotional void.

Melinda Lam described her husband's obsession with OnlyFans as an “absolute betrayal” that destroyed their family.
