A Kaniv resident who stole a battery, icons, and a phone was sentenced to over 7 years in prison

A resident of Kaniv was sentenced to life imprisonment for theft and robbery.

This was reported by the press service of the Cherkasy Regional Prosecutor's Office.

The prosecutor proved in court that in July 2023, a man stole two icons and a mobile phone from local residents. In addition, while at his friend's house, the man stole a battery. Without responding to his remarks, he fled.

The court sentenced the man to a real punishment – seven years and four months in prison. Previously, the 31-year-old resident of Kaniv was tried for property crimes and crimes against life and health.

The man will be in custody until the sentence becomes final.
