The Sûreté du Québec chose to respond with humor to a young man from Farnham who said he wanted to play hide and seek with the police during the first evening of curfew, inviting them to look for him at 8 p.m.
“Who’s up for a game of hide and seek on Saturday at 8 pm?” It is the police who count and who look for it looks, ”published Benoît Guimond on a Facebook group, two days before the implementation of the curfew throughout the province.
Informed of the humorous publication concerning them, the patrollers of the MRC de Brome-Missisquoi decided to respond to the young man in the same tone, leaving a note on his vehicle.
” Find ! Thank you for respecting the curfew tomorrow ”, they wrote on the piece of paper bearing the image of the Sûreté du Québec.
A touch of humor
Surprised, the 21-year-old laughed when he saw the note, he who did not expect at all to get this kind of response from the police.
He also posted the police response on Facebook, and his photos have been shared nearly 3,000 times.
“I found it funny that they take the time to react to that […] It’s not a funny situation, the pandemic, so it’s sure that putting a touch of humor in it proves that we can still laugh a little, despite everything ”, he explains. , adding that he found the message “well placed”.
Sergeant Aurélie Guindon, spokesperson for the Sûreté du Québec, indicates for her part that it was an initiative of the patrollers of the sector. “They saw a great opportunity to do so, in a tone as humorous as the post. They seized the opportunity, ”she explains.
Since the start of the pandemic, she specifies that several similar actions have been carried out with the population to invite citizens to respect the rules and make them aware of the measures.
“The basis of these actions is really to invite people to conform for themselves, to avoid coming to intervene or issue findings,” she concludes.
