A fire has been raging in Askania-Nova for several days

In the unique reserve of Askania-Nova the fire continues to rage. This reports the press service of Kherson oblast.
In the last fire, which started on September 1 due to a lightning strike, 1,790 hectares of protected steppe burned. This is evidenced by the data of satellite images. Invertebrate fauna and plant communities of the hairy weevil, listed in the Green Book of Ukraine, suffered the greatest damage.
"This is the seventh fire that has broken out in Askania-Nova since the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation and temporary occupation. In total, the fire destroyed more than 3,500 hectares of the reserve,” the message says.
