A Chinese tech startup has created a low-cost humanoid robot with human-like skills

The Chinese company Unitree, known for its developments in the field of robotics, released a new humanoid G1, which became the successor of the H1 model. The robot set a world speed record in its class and became the first humanoid to perform a backflip without the use of hydraulics. The new G1 model costs $16 000.

The robot is equipped with a high-performance eight-core processor, supports Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.2, and has 23 to 43 degrees of freedom in the joints. G1 can reach speeds of up to 7.2 km/h, runs on a 9,000 mAh battery for approximately 2 hours and weighs around 35 kg.

In addition to acrobatics, G1 demonstrates a wide range of skills, including handling nuts, making toasts and opening cans with drinks. G1 is equipped with a "head" in the form of a helmet with face lighting, a set of 3D LiDAR sensors and a camera.

Unitree G1 is already available in two configurations: standard and advanced. The developers assure: the humanoid will be useful to those users who are looking for a robot assistant, an operator for the collection of parts in production or an object for research. With high functionality and an affordable price, the G1 promises to become an important player in the field of robotics.
