Approximately 3 million people attended the broadcast and tickets costing 1,000,000 yuan (about 140,000 US dollars) for the approximately 12-minute journey sold out immediately. The identities of the ticket buyers are unknown.

Deep Blue Aerospace is among the vanguard of Chinese commercial space firms developing rockets to support Beijing's ambitious space plans.

Last month, the rocket failed to complete a high-altitude vertical ascent test flight, the company said.

A new test is scheduled for next month, and Deep Blue Aerospace has said it will increase testing in 2025 and 2026 to ensure the “safety and reliability of suborbital manned travel”.

CEO and founder of Deep Blue Aerospace Huo Liang is confident that the rocket will be ready for flight in 2027.

Deep Blue Aerospace – is not the only Chinese company planning to send humans into space. In May of this year, CAS Space announced that its “space tourism vehicle” will make its first crewed flight in 2028. According to state media, tickets are expected to cost between 2 million and 3 million yuan (about $281,000 to $421,000).
