Archaeologists discovered the remains of an ancient ship on the territory of the “Khortytsia” National Reserve. The age of the find may reach 500 years. Probably, the boat belonged to the inhabitants of the Old Russian settlement, which was located on the island during the X-XIV centuries. This was announced on the reserve's Facebook page.

In connection with the extraordinary ecological situation and the drop in the water level in the Dnipro River as a result of the destruction of the Kakhovskaya HPP, numerous monuments were under threat of destruction. sources of history and archeology that were located on flooded areas. Scientists assume that the age of the boat may be 500 years, which is confirmed by the degree of preservation of the find. However, more accurate dating will be possible after radiocarbon analysis.
