David Knight, 54, from Dorking, Surrey, England, was fined £60 for driving in a bus lane in Bath, but immediately realized that there had been a ridiculous mistake.
Together with wife, they studied photographs that showed a woman walking down a bus lane with the word KNITTER (knitter) on a T-shirt. The computer confused the word with the personal license plate on Mr. Knight's VW van, KN19TER, according to newsyou.info.
The funny thing is that the man has never been to this resort town, he lives 200 km away, in Dorking.
The husband and wife laughed and did not pay, but after a while they received another “letter of happiness”, in which the amount of the fine had already increased from 60 to 90 pounds, since they did not pay it off in within 30 days.
Paula Knight nevertheless called the traffic service to report the error, and the fine was canceled, of course.
If you need a smile today… Paula and Dave received a fixed penalty notice in the post. A CCTV camera had caught "them" driving in a bus lane in Bath. Except it wasn't their car. In fact it wasn't a car at all. #BBCNews @BBCPointsWest @BBCRB pic.twitter.com/5rks7xsbcx
