Everything in my life has been going wrong lately. It all started when my boss at work suddenly decided to play master and subject. He started being really rude.

Real Life. "If You Want Me to Forgive You, Give Me Five Hundred": My Friend Said in Response to My Apology

I've thought about quitting my job hundreds of times. I would have thrown my notice on his desk a long time ago, but there's no alternative with a decent salary. So I have to listen to absurd complaints and do absurd tasks.

My family is not doing so well either. My husband is having a new round of midlife crisis. Six months ago he started going to the gym, lost weight and got in shape. Now he has decided to take care of his image. Yes, yes, that's what he said. He said he doesn't want to look like an old geezer.

He bought a lot of trendy stuff and goes to work dressed like a teenager. I have no idea where this will all lead. I generally feel like everything around me is falling apart and changing. What can I say, my car even started breaking down a week ago! Honestly, sometimes I feel like I'm in a vicious circle.

It's like I'm cursed, that's the only explanation I can come up with. I was so caught up in my own things and problems that I completely forgot about my best friend Magda's birthday. But she wasn't going to celebrate it herself. She said there was no point in having a celebration if the date wasn't round.

“Generally speaking, at our age you can forget about birthdays. It's not numbers, but a kind of shame,” said Magda, suggesting that unfortunately we don't get younger with age.

It was only the day after that date that I remembered that I hadn't even called Magda and wished her. How could I have let that slip away. ? I mentally scolded myself and immediately went to the store, bought Magda's favorite cake and a huge bouquet of flowers. I ran to my friend's house as fast as I could. She opened the door with a sour face and didn't let me go into the hallway.

I started apologizing to her fervently and explaining my unforgivable gawking. My friend listened to me with a straight face, crossing her arms over her chest. I continued to apologize, placing the cake and bouquet in Magda's hands.

However, she refused to accept the gifts and apologies. Instead, she demanded five hundred złoty as a birthday present. She announced that I would use this amount to atone for my sins. No amount of explanation on my part convinced Magda to accept what I had brought and accept the apology. She was rude, insisting that I receive the requested amount or I could forget about our friendship.

Of course, I had no intention of giving her anything. I turned around and went home. I kept the flowers and the cake. I regret that I didn't see the true face of this blackmailer earlier!
