A revolution in navigation. The Google Maps application has received a useful update that drivers will appreciate

Google Maps now begins to display traffic accident reports from Waze during navigation, and also provides users with the opportunity to confirm road conditions through tips in the application.

This is reported by RBC-Ukraine (Styler project) with reference to the American website about computer technology The Verge.

What is known about the update

In July, Google announced that both applications would more actively exchange data, including information from Waze about road closures, construction, speed cameras, and police presence, which will be integrated into Google Maps.

It was reported online that over the holidays, a Reddit user shared a screenshot of a “Police Ahead” message based on Waze driver reports. As with other Google Maps event reports, users can update the report to indicate whether the information is up to date.

This is the first time someone has seen the new feature in real-world use, but it likely won't be the last. When Google announced the feature, project manager Can Komertoglu said that despite the Maps and Waze teams being merged, the apps would continue to operate separately.

This is because the more than 500,000 Waze community members prefer certain features of the app, and Google Maps users have their own preferences.
