The project is implemented in partnership with the Algeria National Defense Ministry and provides for the collection of the first seven helicopters at the plant at the Ain-Arnat airport in Setif province.

~ < p >It is expected that this is only the beginning of a large contract, which can include up to 70 helicopters, of which 53 are intended for the Algerian market. Production will begin in one to two years, and assembly will be made from kits that will provide a Leonardo plant in Verridge near Milan.

< p > aw139 & mdash; It is a multi-purpose average helicopter designed to perform military, search and rescue and civilian tasks. It is marked by high maneuverability, flight range and powerful avionic, which makes it effective in different conditions. Thanks to powerful Pratt & amp; Whitney PT6C-67C, it is able to develop speeds up to 310 km/h and has a maximum flight range up to 1 & thinsp; 250 km.

< P > The helicopter can carry up to 15 people or significant cargo, and its modular design allows you to quickly adapt to the performance of rescue, transport or combat missions. Equipped with modern navigation and automatic control systems, AW139 can work in difficult weather and at night. In military versions, it can carry weapons including machine guns, missiles and sensory systems for intelligence.

< P > This is the second assembly line AW139 outside Italy – the first is operating in Philadelphia (USA). In addition to AW139, the Algeria Plant is likely to produce at least two Leonardo helicopters.

< p > Algeria has long been operating helicopters of this manufacturer & mdash; The country received about 80 cars, including AW139, AW119, AW101 and Super Lynx. Negotiations to open the production line began in 2016, but the launch of the project was postponed through the Covid-19 pandemic.
