The Center for Countering Disinformation explained whether the Telegram messenger should be blocked in Ukraine

It is inappropriate to ban the Telegram messenger founded by Russians, since this messenger is actually the main source of information for Ukrainians.

However, it is important that Russian channels are blocked. This was stated by Andriy Kovalenko, head of the Center for Countering Disinformation (CDC) under the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine (NSDC), in an interview with the Interfax-Ukraine agency.

He called Telegram channels the main threat, since it is through them that the enemy recruits people to carry out sabotage against Ukraine. According to him, it is important that pro-Ukrainian channels and pro-Ukrainian content constitute the majority.

“Special services always use any of the social networks,” Kovalenko said.

Another important point against individual Telegram channels, according to Kovalenko, are sanctions.
