Man scammed out of 27,000, promising to rent out apartment

Four residents of Sumy region became victims of scammers.

So, the victim turned to police station No. 4 (Sumy city) of Sumy RUP, who wanted to purchase goods using a well-known online classifieds site. An unknown person in a message in the site's chat asked to send an advance payment for the specified goods. As a result, the applicant's money was fraudulently taken possession of, which she transferred to the bank card indicated to her, but she never received the ordered goods. The total amount of damage amounted to more than 15 thousand hryvnias.

In another case, a man wanted to rent an apartment in Sumy. Having contacted the landlord using an online classifieds site, the applicant transferred funds to the bank card specified by him under the pretext of renting an apartment. Thus, an unidentified person fraudulently took possession of his money in the amount of 27,000 hryvnias. After the transaction was processed, contact with the author of the ad was lost.

Also, a resident of the regional center saw an ad for providing financial assistance in the messenger «Viber». She followed the link sent to her, after which money in the amount of 8 thousand hryvnias was illegally withdrawn from her bank card.
