Samsung stops updates for some Galaxy smartphones

In recent years, Samsung has been gradually extending the support period for Android updates for new Galaxy smartphones, following the example of Apple and Google. However, this only applies to devices released after the adoption of the new support rules. Owners of older models will receive fewer updates, which means a faster end to their life cycle.

In 2025, the company will begin releasing One UI 7 based on Android 15 for many Galaxy smartphones. However, for some models, this update will be the last in their support cycle. Among them:

  • Galaxy S21 series: Galaxy S21, S21+, S21 Ultra
  • Foldable models: Galaxy Z Fold 3, Z Flip 3
  • Budget smartphones: Galaxy A14, A14 5G, M33, M14, M14 5G, F14
  • Tablets: Galaxy Tab S6 Lite (2022), Tab Active 4 Pro

As you can see, the end of support will affect not only budget models, but also former flagships. Usually, after the completion of major annual updates, Samsung releases security patches for some time, but new features and expanded application compatibility will no longer be available to older devices.
