Revenues of the 100 largest arms manufacturers in 2023 reached $632 billion

Experts noted an increase in revenues from arms sales in all regions.

In 2023, the largest arms manufacturers (top 100) increased production volumes and revenues after a decrease in 2022.

«In 2023, there was a noticeable increase in revenues from arms sales, and this is likely to continue… Revenues of manufacturers from the top 100 still do not reflect the level of demand, and many companies have actively engaged in recruitment, which indicates their optimism about future sales», — shared the opinion of the researcher of the SIPRI program «Military Expenditures and Arms Production Programs» Lorenzo Scarazzato.

Director of the SIPRI program Nan Tian noted that now all companies pay special attention to airplanes, helicopters, drones, tanks, ammunition and missiles.

The income of 41 American companies from the top 100 — $317 billion. This is 2.5% more than in 2022, and accounts for almost half of the revenues of all manufacturers in the ranking. Since 2018, the top five places have been occupied exclusively by American companies.

Yes, 30 of the 41 US concerns included in the top 100 increased production in 2023.

The share of 27 European companies from the top 100 (excluding Russian) accounted for $122 billion, which is 0.2% more than the previous year. This is the lowest figure among the regions of the world. Only a few concerns, such as Germany's Rheinmetall, were able to increase revenues due to demand related to the war in Ukraine.

The 23 companies from Asia and Oceania that made it into the top 100 of the SIPRI report accounted for 5.7% of total revenues, or $136 billion.
