The Sejm's investigative committee for Pegasus intends to submit a motion for a 30-day arrest for Zbigniew Ziobro. Journalists of „Fakt” have obtained a working version of the motion, which is to be submitted to the desk of Attorney General Adam Bodnar. The document contains as many as 24 arguments for the need to strip the former Minister of Justice of his immunity and place him in custody.

The Commission wants Ziobro to be detained

On Friday, January 31, Zbigniew Ziobro was to be questioned before the parliamentary committee of inquiry into Pegasus. The court agreed to detain the former Minister of Justice and bring him before the committee by the police. The politician was detained by officers at the headquarters of TV Republika, from where he was taken to the building where the committee was meeting.

After Ziobro failed to appear at the appointed time, the committee voted quite quickly to submit a motion to apply a disciplinary penalty in the form of 30 days of arrest for the former leader of Sovereign Poland.

„Fakt” reached a motion that will go to Adam Bodnar's desk. According to information provided by the daily, the working version of the document is 9 pages long, although work on its final form is still ongoing.

What was included in the motion in Ziobro's case?

In the 9-page document, the largest part is occupied by arguments relating to the issue of detention former head of the Ministry of Justice. It was written on as many as 6 pages.

„Multiple attempts were made to deliver the summons to the Commission meeting through the Police, which proved ineffective due to the lack of household members at the addressee's place of residence– this is one of the arguments cited in the working version of the motion.

After the motion lands on Adam Bodnar's desk, he will address an official letter to the Speaker of the Sejm. From there, the motion will go to the Rules Committee. It is then put to a vote by MEPs, who can support or reject it. The potential removal of immunity will not end the matter.

After the immunity is removed, the case will go to court, which will decide whether Zbigniew Ziobro will be arrested for 30 days or not.
