British scientists will create artificial intelligence to protect against nuclear threats

A laboratory will be opened in the UK that will focus on using artificial intelligence to defend against cyberattacks, including possible nuclear threats.

Minister Pat McFadden announced that the Laboratory for Artificial Intelligence Security Research (LASR) will receive £8 million in funding.

It will bring together intelligence agencies, scientists and technology professionals to develop new systems to protect the national infrastructure.

This center will be an important step in the fight against cyberattacks. After all, unfriendly states are actively using AI to carry out cyber threats that can disable critical systems, including energy networks.

Minister McFadden emphasized that AI has already become part of cyberwarfare, and this laboratory will help the UK stay ahead in the «AI-based arms race».
