BMW's British branch suspends its activities on social network X after Elon Musk's "Roman salute"

We are no longer posting on X, the UK arm of German carmaker BMW has announced, following Elon Musk's 'Roman salute'.

The UK arm of German carmaker BMW has announced its withdrawal from the social media platform X (formerly Twitter). The reason was the “Roman salute” of the owner of the social network X Ilon Musk at the inauguration of US President Donald Trump.

Musk found himself at the center of the scandal because of a gesture with his right hand that resembled a Nazi one. This gesture is attributed to the Roman Empire, but in modern history it was borrowed by the Fascists, and then the Nazis as the greeting “Sieg Heil”.

Against this backdrop, BMW's British division announced the cessation of its activities on the X social network.

“We are no longer posting on X. However, don't worry, our customer service is still available if you need our help,” BMW's British division said.
