A resident of the Ternopil district lost 400,000 hryvnias after communicating with an unknown person. The woman gave the attacker access to her electronic wallet. Police investigators have launched an investigation into the fraud.

The regional police reported this.

A 55-year-old resident of the Velykohayivska community applied to the Ternopil district administration. She said that she received a call from an unknown person who introduced himself as an employee of a financial institution and reported an alleged technical failure in the system. The caller assured that in order to avoid problems with the card account, it is necessary to urgently change the password for accessing banking services.

Trusting the stranger, the applicant followed all the instructions, in particular, dictated the confirmation code that was sent to her phone. As a result, the victim lost all her savings – 400,000 hryvnias.
