The Japanese company Fujitsu has introduced an innovative series of FMV Note U laptops and announced that it has created the world's lightest laptop with Copilot Plus support. This technological breakthrough is impressive in its characteristics: the basic configuration weighs only 848 grams, and the case thickness is less than 2.54 centimeters.
According to Tom's Hardware, the laptop features a 14-inch 1920 x 1200 display and an Intel Lunar Lake processor. Fujitsu notes that choosing additional configurations can add 20 grams to the device's weight. Even so, the laptop remains the lightest in its class, beating out the recent 980-gram Zenbook A14 from Asus, which uses a Qualcomm Snapdragon X processor based on Arm architecture.
Despite its light weight, Fujitsu emphasizes the reliability of the design and is proud that the device is fully assembled in Japan. FMV Note U has been tested to meet the MIL-810H standard, which guarantees its resistance to various external influences, including drops, vibrations, temperature changes and humidity.
FMV Note U offers a wide range of ports: two Thunderbolt 4 ports, USB-A, a 3.5 mm audio jack and charging and activity indicators on the left, as well as a microSD card slot, an additional USB-A port, an HDMI connector and Ethernet on the right. Wi-Fi 7 support adds even more versatility to the device.
The hardware is no less impressive: at a thickness of only 17.3 mm, the laptop has an Intel Lunar Lake processor, 16 or 32 GB of RAM and SSDs from 256 GB to 2 TB. The device works up to 36 hours on a single charge and is equipped with a compact Anker Nano II 65W charger weighing only 112 grams. The built-in neural processor (NPU) with a performance of 47 TOPS accelerates the work of applications for noise reduction, real-time subtitle creation (Live Captions), image generation and Microsoft Recall functions. The FMV Note U series is currently only available in Japan, with pricing and global sales information to follow.
