In the Khmelnytskyi region, a 23-year-old woman, looking for easy money online, lost over 480 thousand hryvnias

A 23-year-old resident of Netishyn received a message in the messenger about additional earnings online. At first, the victim liked the product on the online platform, for which she received a monetary reward. Then, the woman began to perform tasks on a subscription basis in order to increase her earnings, the police inform.

According to the victim, she herself did not understand how she «invested» 480 thousand hryvnias, which she could not return. As a result – neither her own funds nor earnings. When  The woman realized that she had become a victim of fraud, so she turned to the police for help.

Employees of the Shepetivsky District Police Department opened a criminal case into the fraud and urge citizens not to trust offers of easy money on the Internet.

How the scheme works:

  • At first, the victim is offered easy tasks, such as giving likes or reviewing products, promising a small reward.
  • Then the fraudsters offer to invest money, promising a higher income.
  • After receiving the contributions, the attackers disappear with money.
