Germany deployed two Patriot air defense batteries in Poland

Germany has deployed two Patriot air defense battery batteries in Poland. This was announced by the official Bundeswehr Facebook page.

“Last week, our Patriots from Zanica left for Poland. They will be reinforced by air defense units from Bad Sulze and Husum. The goal is to provide NATO's integrated air defense on the eastern flank of the Alliance region for the next 6 months,” the message says.

The battery has also been transferred to provide protection for one of the largest logistics centers for Ukraine, which is located in Poland.

We are tasked with protecting one of the largest logistics centers in the region, and over the next few days we will smoothly take over this mission from the forces already on site and ensure its execution. We will also provide 24/7 security, that is, around the clock,” added the contingent commander, Lieutenant Colonel Christoph Schmaler.

The publication “Military” specified that complexes in the Patriot PAC-3 configuration with transport-launch containers for MIM-104F missiles, which can effectively counter short-range ballistic missiles and cruise missiles, were delivered to Poland.

The experts added that Germany had previously deployed anti-aircraft units from the 21st anti-aircraft missile group from Zanica and 24th group from Bad Sulze on the territory Poland.

“These systems strengthened Poland's air defense for 11 months in 2023. They were deployed near the city of Zamość, southeast of Warsaw, next to a transshipment station through which civilian and military cargoes are delivered to Ukraine,” Militarny recalled.
