Australian blogger charged with poisoning her own baby for money

A 34-year-old blogger has been charged in Australia who, according to the case, poisoned her own one-year-old child to boost her blog's popularity and raise funds for the baby's treatment. The BBC reports this.

The woman claimed that she was fighting for the life of her seriously ill child and posting these materials on social networks. In fact, investigators believe she had drugged him with potent drugs not intended for infants.

The investigation began on October 15. The child was taken to hospital in critical condition, both emotionally and physically. Doctors suspected he had been abused and called the police. Tests showed the drugs were present.

The woman has been charged with torture, poisoning, child exploitation and fraud. “The atrocity of her actions is beyond words,” Queensland Police Inspector Paul Dalton said.
