Poland to establish production of explosives for shells and open shell factory

Poland will establish the production of explosives for shells and open a shell factory

On Monday, November 18, the Polish government and manufacturers signed a letter of intent regarding the production of nitrocellulose and gunpowder necessary to establish the production of large-caliber ammunition.

This was reported by the Polish Ministry of Defense, as “Evropyska Pravda” writes.

The letter of intent was joined by Polish arms and industrial manufacturers Polska Grupa Zbrojeniowa, Grupa Azoty, Agencja Rozwoju Przemysłu and MESKO. The government was represented by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Defense Władysław Kosińka-Kamyś.

The agreement stipulates that the signatory companies will cooperate on the development of competencies in the production of explosives (nitrocellulose and gunpowder) in Poland, together with the raw material base.

In addition, Kosińka-Kamyś announced plans to build an ammunition production plant in Poland and adopt a corresponding law.

“We decided to proceed with this project as a law because we believe it is crucial for our security. This is a groundbreaking step in our efforts to ensure the security of the country,” he said.

Last year, the Polish government announced a program to support the production of ammunition in the country, given their need on the battlefield in Ukraine.
