Sometimes an unpleasant smell can come from the refrigerator, which is not cleaned as often as other surfaces in the house. However, to get rid of this, you don't always need to use chemicals – there are simple and natural ways.

Clean out the fridge

First, you need to determine the source of the unpleasant smell. These are usually spoiled foods or spilled liquids. Go through the entire contents of the refrigerator, get rid of expired and spoiled products, then wipe the shelves with a damp cloth.

Clean with vinegar

To remove persistent odors, wipe the interior surfaces refrigerator with a mixture of water and white vinegar in equal parts. This natural deodorant will help effectively neutralize unpleasant odors.

Use baking soda

Baking soda is a great odor absorber, but it loses its effectiveness over time. Make sure you change the baking soda at least once a month and store it in a ventilated container.

Use coffee grounds

Leftover coffee grounds will also help get rid of odors. Just put them in a bowl and leave them in the fridge for a few days.

Use newspapers

Make balls from newspaper pages, put them on a paper plate and add a drop of vanilla. Place plates with balls on the shelves of the refrigerator and freezer – carbon in newspaper ink will absorb unpleasant odors.

Freeze coal

Activated charcoal, like baking soda, is effective at absorbing odors. Place a few pieces in a container and leave it in the refrigerator. For particularly strong odors, you can place several bags in different compartments.

Add oats

Raw oats can also absorb unpleasant odors. Simply place them in an uncovered container and leave them in the refrigerator for natural deodorization.

Wipe with lemon juice

Wipe the shelves of your refrigerator with a towel soaked in lemon juice. For maximum effect, you can leave lemon slices in a bowl inside the refrigerator for several hours or even a week.

Sprinkle with zest

To add a fresh scent, spread orange, lemon, or lime peels on the shelves of your refrigerator. You can also use zest by sprinkling it on surfaces.

Add vanilla

Vanilla extract can mask unpleasant odors in your refrigerator. Apply a few drops to a cotton ball and leave it inside for a pleasant scent.
