The Galaxy S25 Ultra can beat the iPhone 16 Pro Max thanks to one underrated feature

Galaxy S25 Ultra can beat iPhone 16 Pro Max thanks to one underrated feature

The Galaxy S25 Ultra smartphone will most likely support Samsung DeX, which will enable it to replace laptops for users. The iPhone 16 Pro Max has nothing like that.

With the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra set to launch early next year, the company can't afford to keep quiet about the Samsung DeX feature set again, writes tomsguide .com.

The Galaxy S25 Ultra smartphone will most likely have Samsung DeX support, which will allow it to replace laptops for users. Experts of tomsguide.com believe that this functionality will allow the new South Korean flagship to surpass its main competitor — iPhone 16 Pro Max.

The publication notes that Samsung is likely betting on new Galaxy AI features to entice people to buy the Galaxy S25 Ultra, but Samsung DeX could also be the same “chip” that attracts the largest number of buyers.

The Samsung DeX functionality first appeared in 2017 with the launch of the Galaxy S8. Since then, new features have been added to the desktop interface from time to time, but in the last three years it has practically not changed and now seems somewhat outdated, the article emphasizes.

“The Galaxy S25 Ultra could be an ideal opportunity for Samsung to update the user experience, as DeX is one of the few services that fills the “gap” between laptops and phones,” write experts who connected the Galaxy S24 Ultra and Galaxy Z Fold 6 to an old portable monitor, and the interface offered them touch interaction. As a result, the smartphone could be used in the same way as a tablet. From a productivity point of view, the ability to rely on touch control made DeX even more valuable for everyday tasks, the testers noted.

According to the authors, people crave multifunctional devices that combine the functions of cameras, MP3 players and specialized phones. Samsung DeX on the Galaxy S25 Ultra could replace a laptop, they are sure.

“In any case, Samsung can't afford to simply “drive under the table” DeX again without significant improvements. In the iPhone 16 Pro Max there's nothing even remotely similar to this feature set, so it's imperative that DeX gets a proper update,” — they emphasized.

Another component of Samsung DeX that needs to be improved — these are the capabilities of the “smart” stylus S Pen. So far, none of the leaked renders of the Galaxy S24 Ultra show off the S Pen, but it's possible that the developers will offer one. The S Pen could become a key component of user interaction with DeX.
