A historic event for the world of modern art took place in New York: for the first time, a canvas created by a humanoid was sold at auction a robot with artificial intelligence, writes LB.

The portrait of the famous mathematician Alan Turing, who was thinking about the role of AI in the future development of mankind back in the 50s of the last century, was created by Ai-Da – the world's first super-realistic robot artist.

The auction house “Sotheby” believed that the picture would go under the hammer for 120-180 thousand dollars. Instead, the final cost reached 1.32 million. The competition for the lot was intense: participants made 27 bids.

I-Da was created by contemporary art specialist Aidan Moeller, who worked on its development at the universities of Oxford and Birmingham. The robot knows how to communicate with the help of artificial intelligence and can even explain the content of the canvases it creates.
