FBI warns of fake presidential election videos circulating

FBI reports fake presidential election videos circulating

The FBI has reported the circulating of a fake news video falsely attributed to the agency. The video reportedly urges voters to vote remotely because of the allegedly high terrorist threat at polling stations, the Associated Press reports.

The FBI has stressed that the video is fake and misrepresents concerns about security at polling stations.

Another video showing a fabricated FBI press release alleging that prison officials in several key states rigged inmate votes and colluded with one of the political parties is also false.

The FBI has not named those responsible for fabricating the videos. Over the past two weeks, the agency has accused Russian agents of influence of multiple fabricated online posts and videos that officials say were part of a broader disinformation campaign.
