The US Missile Defense Agency (MDA) together with Northrop Grumman Corporation is developing the first defensive means of countering hypersonic missiles.

It is noted that the innovative  the defense system is expected to be the first of its kind specifically designed to neutralize hypersonic threats, which are becoming increasingly influential in today's conflicts.

“GPI represents a significant technological leap in missile defense with significant potential to play key role in future conflict scenarios,” the statement said.

As the program moves into the next phase of development, Northrop Grumman will focus on several critical aspects.

“This innovative the defense system should be the first of its kind, specially designed to neutralize hypersonic threats, which are becoming more and more influential in modern conflicts,” the message states.
