Apple is preparing to release another iPhone 16 smartphone

Apple is preparing to release the iPhone 16E. Don't let the name fool you, this appears to be a new branding for the long-awaited SE model.

Details

According to a recent report, the next iPhone SE (16E) is set to launch by April, and there's already a list of specs for it online, courtesy of Chinese source Digital Chat Station.

Essentially, the iPhone 16E is a slightly tweaked iPhone 14. Apple's new budget device will feature the same 6.06-inch FHD+ LTPS OLED screen with a 60Hz refresh rate and a notch for Face ID, which will be new to the SE series. It also gets a flat metal frame, a single rear camera, a water resistance rating, and the Apple A18 chip, which is the biggest upgrade over the aforementioned iPhone 14.

According to the same source, the iPhone 16E will be the cheapest iPhone ever, based on its starting price, which was previously rumored to be $499. That would make it $70 more expensive than its 2022 predecessor, but the chipset upgrade is worth it, not to mention the addition of Face ID and an OLED screen. The 16E will also reportedly support Apple Intelligence thanks to 8GB of RAM.
