Every year on November 3, Ukraine celebrates the Day of the Engineer Troops. The holiday was established in 1999 by decree of President Leonid Kuchma. On this day, servicemen of the engineering troops receive congratulations, which you can read below in the material.
The holiday was established in Ukraine “…taking into account the merits of the engineering troops in strengthening the defense capability of the state…” according to the Decree of the President of Ukraine “On the Day of the Engineering Troops” dated October 27, 1999, writes Radio Maximum.
Engineering Troopsare special forces, a branch of the ground forces in the armies of most states, designed for engineering support for combat operations of units, formations and associations of all types of armed forces.
Engineer troops are engaged in engineering support during combat operations. They conduct engineering reconnaissance, build crossings and safe passages through minefields, clear roads of debris, equip the territory for further offensives and accompany the army. Most of the work these soldiers do is practically in front of the enemy, risking their lives for the safe advancement of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Engineer troops also help in defense.
