On Friday, November 1, the birthday of the Ukrainian soldier and Hero of Ukraine Dmytro Kotsyubail (“Da Vinci”), a stele was erected in his honor in the Donetsk region.

This was reported on the Facebook page of the separate battalion “Da Vinci Wolves”.

The stele was opened in the Donetsk region by fighters of a separate battalion named after “Da Vinci” and brothers of Dmytro . It was installed near the entrance to the Donetsk region.

The monument was created by the Ukrainian artist Sasha Komyakhov, who is the author of the visual identity of the Da Vinci Wolves battalion, as well as < strong>of the combat chevron of the unit, which Da Vinci gave to the soldiers.

Establishing this memorial in this particular region has a deep symbolic meaning, because it is here that Dmytro fought against the Russian invader from 2014 to 2023, when he heroically died defending Ukraine, the page says. What is known about Dmytro “Da Vinci” Kotsyubayl:

Dmytro Kotsyubaylwas born on November 1, 1995 in the village of Zadnistryanskyi, now Burshtynsk community, Ivano-Frankivsk region. He received his education at the Bovshiv secondary school and studied to be an artist at the Ivano-Frankivsk Professional Construction Lyceum.

Dmytro was in the war from the age of 18, he got there immediately after the Revolution of Dignity. In 2014, he was seriously wounded in Pisky, Donetsk region, after recovering he returned to the front. Before the start of the full-scale invasion, he was a volunteer, then joined the Armed Forces. For eight years, he prepared himself and prepared others for the “great” war.

On November 30, 2021, Dmytro Kotsyubailo was awarded the title of Hero of Ukraine for personal courage shown in the defense of state sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine . In 2022, he received the rank of junior lieutenant. “Da Vinci” died on March 7, 2023 in the direction of Bakhmut.
