The technical characteristics of the highly accurate Jackal cruise missile operating in swarm conditions have been revealed

Disclosed technical characteristics of high-precision cruise missile Jackal, operating in swarm conditions

The American company Northrop Grumman presented a compact cruise missile Jackal. The lightweight missile, first demonstrated in 2022, is designed to be launched from Apache helicopters, ground platforms and unmanned boats. Helicopters can carry up to eight of these missiles — it allows you to simultaneously launch almost a hundred missiles from 12 pieces of equipment, informs Defence Express.

Jackal has a flight range of up to 150 km, which it covers in 15 minutes , reaching a speed of about 600 km/h. The missile is equipped with a homing system with a thermal imaging head, which allows identifying targets and hitting them without using GPS. At the same time, it is possible to “swarm” application where a group of missiles exchange data and perform joint tasks.

Although the Jackal warhead is only 4.5 kg, the developers assure that this is enough to destroy light equipment, communication equipment and  unprotected objects. This makes the missile an effective solution for conditions of maneuver combat, when quantity and accuracy are more important than the power of each hit.
