Apple has discontinued the MacBook Air M2 and M3 with 8GB of RAM

Apple has withdrawn from sale MacBook Air M2 and M3 with 8 GB of RAM

Now the minimum amount of memory for MacBook Air based on chips M2 and M3 is 16 GB. This should improve multitasking and system performance, making the device more suitable for long-term use.

What else is known

Notably, the starting price of the MacBook Air has remained at $999, keeping the model affordable for users on a tight budget.

In the past, users could increase RAM to 16GB for an additional $200, but this configuration has now become standard.

This is not the first time that Apple has installed a new base level: In 2016, the minimum configuration for the 13-inch MacBook Air became 8 GB.

What's interesting, not only the MacBook Air now starts with 16 GB of memory – a similar configuration is available for the compact Mac Mini, the updated MacBook Pro and the iMac, underscoring Apple's general trend to improve the performance of the entire line of computers.
