The world's largest wind power plant is under threat: what happened

The largest the world's wind farm is under threat: what happened

In Great Britain, the construction of the world's largest wind farm Dogger Bank, which can power up to 6 million homes, is underway. However, the work was suspended.

Construction had to be stopped due to a serious breakdown. This is written by the publication ECOticias.

Why the construction was stopped

The companies SSE Renewables, Equinor and Vårgrønn started construction of the world's largest wind farm off the coast of northeastern England. According to the plan, this station should produce up to 3.6 megawatts of electricity, which will provide light to 6 million homes.

However, construction work had to be suspended due to serious damage to the Haliade-X turbine blade. This failure occurred during commissioning of the turbine. And although the cause of the failure is not related to installation or manufacturing defects, the companies are now concerned that problems may arise with other blades as well.

As the publication notes, this event proves the need to test turbines and blades in real conditions before installing full-fledged stations, even more so when it comes to the generation of electricity from offshore wind.

Despite the difficulties, the engineers are confident that the construction will be resumed and the project will be successfully completed.
